Crystal Palace vs Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp makes 'special' Selhurst Park admission after 2-1 win

Liverpool were made to work hard for their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah's 200th Liverpool goal and substitute Harvey Elliott's brilliant strike helped Jurgen Klopp's team to a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. French forward Jean-Philippe Mateta gave Palace the lead in the second half but Jordan Ayew's sending-off meant the Eagles were up against it.

The defeat means Crystal Palace have won only one of their last nine matches and pressure is mounting on manager Roy Hodgson to inspire his side and change their fortunes. Hodgson has also lost all eight meetings against Jurgen Klopp in the Premier League but the Liverpool boss admitted his team were lucky to get away with all three points today.

He told the BBC after the game at Selhurst Park: "In games like these you just hope you take the points and move on because up until the 76th minute we were not good enough. We were lucky and Roy has got a strong team here so coming to Selhurst is not easy for anyone. I don't know how many times we were offside. It was horrendous."

Back to the drawing board for Eagles

This was an improved performance but the reality is that Palace have only won one home game all season, and with league status still not guaranteed for next season, the atmosphere at Selhurst is turning against the manager.

They are still seven points above the bottom three before the rest of the weekend's action, but it is recent defeats by Everton, Luton and Bournemouth - three of the six sides currently below them - which has raised concerns within supporters.
