Edwards, 19, has been a key player for the Posh over the past few seasons and has made 49 appearances in all competitions.

They snapped him up from non-league side Barnet back in 2020 and he has adapted with ease to life in the Football League.‘Rolls Royce’...

As reported by the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace made a couple of bids for him last month but weren’t able to lure him to Selhurst Park.

In a latest update by Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony, it appears Patrick Viera’s side aren’t the only admirers of the player.

Speaking on The Hard Truth podcast (06.09.22), MacAnthony said:

“Dan Ashworth (Sporting Director at Newcastle) said to Barry (Fry, Director of Football), ‘You’re talking about the Rolls Royce?’,”

“Dan said, ‘We know all about your boy, the reports at Brighton I got. He is a Rolls Royce of a centre-half. But, we, Newcastle, are looking at the attacking end of the pitch at the moment.

“But he said ‘Barry, absolute Rolls Royce. Every scout report that went into Brighton, unbelievable.’”

Time will tell whether Palace make another move in January for the England youth international.

They delved into the market to land defender Chris Richards in his position from Bayern Munich and he has already played three times this term.
