Crystal Palace have extended the contract of Vicente Guaita until the summer of 2024 following an impressive start to the campaign. There had been reports that he would have left for free after this season but the club has moved to tie him down until the summer of 2024.

The 35-year-old was first signed by Roy Hogdons in 2018 and has since established himself as the number one goalkeeper at the club even in the face of heightened competition, Vieira and his coaching staff are quite satisfied with his output.

The deal also puts to bed speculations surrounding his future as there were growing concerns that he would have been moved back to Getafe in the summer. Palace signed signed Sam Johnstone this season and already Jack Butland in their ranks but it’s Guaita who continues to be the chosen in the Premier League.

Since joining in 2018 Guaita has made 139 appearances and kept 43 clean sheets, he has some of the best reflexes in the Premier League. The down side to his game is his feet but he makes up for it with being an incredible shot stopper.

The Eagles have had a decent season in the Premier League sitting 11th on the league table even though they would have been disappointed with the defeat to Nottingham Forest before the international break.

They take on London rivals Fulham after the World Cup and Vieira will hope that having time with his team will help improve their consistency.

The Eagles are set for a cash bonanza with both Jordan Ayew and Joachim Andersen at the World Cup and FIFA paying clubs £8,500 per day. Both players will guarantee the Eagles a sum of £323,000 for the duration they will be at the tournament even though it could be more if their various progress to the next round.
