Crystal Palace boss Patrick Viera believes France, Brazil, Argentina and Germany are the ones to watch out for at the World Cup. His side will be out of action after this weekend as Qatar takes centre stage.

The Eagles are currently 10th in the Premier League table and have picked up 19 points from their opening 13 games. An away trip to Nottingham Forest is in store this weekend before they have a rest from league fixtures for a while.

Viera has picked out his four favourites for the World Cup, as per the official club website:

“I don’t think England are part of the favourites but as an outsider they can surprise teams. Let’s wait and see.

“I will say the team to beat will be France because of the attacking threat they have up front. Brazil, Argentina, the Germans, are always present in big competitions. Those four nations are for me the favourites.”

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi has been left out of the England squad as Gareth Southgate opted for other options in defence when he named his roster earlier this week. The centre-back has been a hit at Selhurst Park since his switch from fellow London club Chelsea. Last season’s loan man Conor Gallagher has been included by the Three Lions though.

England’s first game is against Iran on Monday 21st November before their clashes against USA on Friday 25th and Wales on Tuesday 29th.
