Crystal Palace looking to conclude Donny van de Beek loan move with Manchester United

Crystal Palace are “closing in” on the loan signing of Donny van de Beek from Manchester United.

The Eagles have held talks with the Dutchman’s club and are hoping they can finalise a deal before Monday evening’s January transfer window deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, United are open to allowing the 24-year-old to leave Old Trafford this month and discussions with Palace are said to be “positive”.

The midfielder has only featured 14 times in all competitions this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Van de Beek is said to be “upset” with his current situation at the Red Devils, as per the Manchester Evening News.

The site claims the Dutchman feels “misled” by his game-time during his second campaign in Manchester, with him yet to start a Premier League game for the club this season.

Van de Beek will be hoping he’ll be allowed to leave Old Trafford this month in order to play regularly and put his name in contention for a place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.

However, reports from the MEN suggest that the Eagles face competition from a number of other teams for the 24-year-old’s signature, and no talks have been held between United and the interested parties.

In addition, the Mirror claims the Red Devils are reluctant to let the midfielder go during the winter window, as they could need him if another Covid-19 outbreak occurs at Old Trafford.

Before his arrival in Manchester, van de Beek was a regular for his former club Ajax.

During his spell in his homeland he made 175 appearances, scoring 41 goals and assisting his teammates on 34 occasions.
