Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Strasbourg midfielder Habib Diarra. The youngster appears to be a man in-demand ahead of the summer.
According to The Sun, the Eagles have ‘sent top spies’ to watch him in action over recent times. However, there will be plenty of competition for his signature with Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Wolves, Leicester City and Leeds United also mentioned as potential suitors.
Crystal Palace could see the 19-year-old as a long-term option. They will have a vacancy when Albert Sambi Lokonga heads back to the Emirates Stadium when his loan deal ends.
Diarra is under contract with his current club until June 2027 meaning they are under no pressure to let him go anywhere yet. They could face a battle to keep him in the next transfer window though based on the sheer number of teams linked with him.
The Senegal-born man represents France at youth international level and was on the books of French third tier side FC Mulhouse before joining Strasbourg in 2018. He was then handed his first-team debut in 2021.
Reported Crystal Palace target Diarra has now established himself as a key player in the senior team and has made 32 appearances in all competitions, 29 of which have come in this campaign. He has also chipped in with three goals and three assists.
The Eagles drew 2-2 away at Fulham last time out. Striker Odsonne Edouard said: “We didn’t give up until the last minute, and I think it was good. It was good for the team to take at least one point today.
“I was happy to start today. I’m a striker so I need to score some goals! I scored one goal today so I am happy, but the most important thing is we played well collectively and managed to take the points, so it’s good.”
In other Crystal Palace news, Liverpool are said to have joined Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race for defender Marc Guehi, according to the Daily Mail. The report also claims Fenerbahce want winger Wilfried Zaha.
