Manchester City target Eberech Eze is now expected to stay at Crystal Palace after agreeing to snub Pep Guardiola's interest for this season.

Pep Guardiola is in the market for a replacement for the injured Kevin De Bruyne who is expected back until Christmas with Eze and Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes the prime contenters.

The Citizen had a £40m bid for the Numes rejected last week while Eze is not desperate to leave south London this summer.

LondonWorld sources say Eze will have a year left on his contract in south London after this season and is not in a rush to leave as he knows he’ll have much power when it comes to a contract extension next summer.

Last season he bagged 10 goals and four assists with six of them coming after experienced Roy Hodgson took over from Patrick Vieira. Sources also say that the midfielder has told the club he’s willing to stay this season adding to Michael Olise’s decision to snub interest from Chelsea and stay in south London.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson admitted they were not considering selling the midfielder at any point. “As far as I’m concerned, that [his current deal] will take care of the next two years at least,” Hodgson said.

“If the club want to go and speak to him about extending it, I will say: ‘What a good idea. Please go ahead. Then it would be up to Eberechi Eze and his advisors to decide if they want to extend.

“A lot might depend – with all players of that quality – how they see the future of the club. We’re fortunate that Olise has seen fit to really give us a long-term commitment. I will be more than happy if Eze did the same thing.”

After the game against Brentford, no other Premier League No. 10 has had more shots at goal than Eze and a large part of their success this season will be down to how well he performs.
