Crystal Palace opposition watch: Four Aston Villa players who are injury doubts for match

Steven Gerrard has some key players on the treatment table who are doubts for the clash against Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace will travel to Villa Park this weekend looking for a win that will push them towards their best ever Premier League points tally.

For Villa, a strong showing against Liverpool was all they got as the Merseyside side took all three points in midweek, even thought Gerrard’s side deserved a point from a combative performance.

Palace are 11th in the league and Aston Villa are 12th which suggests this will be a close encounter with positions and pride at stake.

Leon Bailey

Bailey has been struggling with an ankle injury, but there is an expectation that he would be fit enough to be in the team.

The decision will be if Gerrard wants to risk him, or keep him well and safe for the last two games of the season.

It’s been an underwhelming season for Bailey who arrived with a huge reputation, but a combination of form and injuries have held him back.

Jacob Ramsey

Another who is a big doubt for the game due to a hip injury.

Ramsey has been a revelation under Steven Gerrard, however the manager was hopeful he could be in the team - so it will be interesting to see if he passes a late fitness test.

Ollie Watkins

The England international has been struggling with a small injury, and has a 50/50 chance of making it for the game against Palace this weekend.

Watkins limped off in the game against Liverpool, after pulling up following a tussle with Virgil Van Dijk.

The former Brentford man has been linking up well with Danny Ings, so if he misses out that will be a big boost for Palace.
