Chelsea caretaker manager Frank Lampard decided to bring in goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from the cold for their game against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The game is the first time Mendy has played for the club since the 12th of November against Newcastle where Chelsea lost 1-0.

Since then, Kepa Arrizabalaga has been the preferred first choice with Mendy’s one clean sheet in the league, coming against Everton when Lamapard was in charge of the Toffees.

LondonWorld.com understand that the reason for his return to the post is to give the Senegal international game time especially now that the league season is almost over and Premier League status is all but secured.

Mendy has been linked with an exit from the club in the summer and this could be a perfect shop window for the player and the club if they do decide to cash in.

Chelsea won for the first time since Frank Lampard took over against Bournemouth last week and will be looking for their first home win under the 44-year-old manager who took over from Bruno Saltor as caretaker manager.

The Blues have little to no chance of qualifying for Europe next season and have been strongly linked with hiring former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as permanent manager next season.

Youngster Lewis Hall has also been named in the starting line-up for the first time under Frank Lampard, his first game since being involved in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

Chelsea’s starting Line-up: Mendy, Badiashile, Enzo, Silva, Kovacic, Felix, Chalobah, Sterling, Gallagher, Madueke, Lewis Hall.
