Why Chelsea have 'recalled' talented 21-year-old from Leicester City

Cesare Casadei has scored three goals and provided two assists for Championship side Leicester City.

Chelsea have recalled talented Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from his loan spell at Leicester City and the Italian is now expected to stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the campaign. Casadei has scored three goals and provided two assists for the Foxes but he will now compete with the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher for a spot in Mauricio Pochettino's team.

The 21-year-old was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2022 for around £13m and immediately sent out on a series of loan spells at Reading and then Leicester City. LondonWorld understands that he is highly-rated at Chelsea and unlike David Datro Fofana who was recalled and then sent to Burnley, Casadei will stay to fight for a spot.

Chelsea are going into the business part of the season where they have a crunch FA Cup game against Aston Villa and then a must-win League Cup game against Championship side Middlesbrough all coming and reports are that the injury to Lesley Ugochukwu is worse than initially feared and he could now be out till late February.

That plus Casadei's fine form made it easy for the the technical team and the sporting directors to agree on bringing him back to the squad for what is left of the campaign.

LondonWorld sources also say he's impressed manager Pochettino and he wants the midfielder to be part of his team from this month.

Chelsea return to training at Cobham

The Blues have been back to the Surrey training base in the last 48 hours after enjoying a three-day break following their 1-0 over Fulham last weekend. Their first game back will be against Middlesbrough next week, where they have to turn around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.
