When Mauricio Pochettino will start work after agreeing to be next Chelsea manager

Chelsa have agreed a deal with Mauricio Pochettino to be the next manager of the club according to LondonWorld sources, with an official announcemnet from the club expected in the next couple of days.

Caretaker boss Frank Lampard has won just one of his first eight games in charge but will be allowed to see out the campaign with Pochettino expeted to start work in the summer.

The Argentina manager is however expected to visit the training ground once the official announcement has been made and he will most likely hold one to ones with players before financiling his team for pre-season in July.

Pochettino is expected to bring along assistant, Jesus Perez, plus first-team coach Miguel D’Agostino, goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez and his sports scientist son, Sebastiano.

Once the contract is signed, he will then work closely with co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali to indentify summer transfer targets and those who are surplus to requirement- with a massive clearout that is expected with Chelsea having 31 first team players and 21 loanees who will return to the club in the summer.

The 51-year-old manager has been without work since leaving PSG last year and had been linked with the vacant coaching role at Tottenham where he spent five years and led them to the Champions League final in 2019.

He was also impressive during his time at Southampton where he helped stablise the club and showed incredible man management to bring through talented players.

It has been a forgettable first year for Todd Boehly and his Clearlake consortium but with the impending appointment of Pochettino, they’ll hope they’ve found a manager with knowledge and charisma to get them back on track.
