Chelsea’s summer clearcut has began but latest Thiago Silva news is music in the ears of the fanbase after a difficult season.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has received some first-hand backing with experienced defender Thiago Silva pledging his future to the club and rolling up his sleeves for the work ahead.

The 38-year-old Silva was named Chelsea’s Player of the Season but there had been reports that he could return to Flamengo in Brazil this summer to see the sunset on his career.

But Silva and his family have decided to stay in London for at least another season after holding the first talks with the newly appointed Pochettino.

The Brazilian’s contract will run out at the end of next season but he still feels he has what it takes to be playing at the highest level and Chelsea will feel they can do with his experience and ability in their rebuild process.

The former PSG star’s family love London and his two sons Isago and Iago both play in the Chelsea Academy and speak fluent English. His wife Belle is also understood to enjoy living in the capital.

Chelsea have to get rid of some players with Joao Felix already shown the exit door after holding talks with Pochettino. The contract talks with N’Golo Kante are also still being discussed while Denis Zakaria has also been told his loan deal will come to an end.

The likes of Reece James, Ben Chilwell, and Noni Madueke are going to be the foundation on which the new Chelsea will be built. Chelsea have just come off their worse Premier League campaign in 25 years but moods have been lifted with the appointment of Pochettino who has a reputation for getting the best out of young players.
