Former Chelsea striker has been impressed with Nicolas Jackson’s first season in the Premier League.

Nicolas Jackson has defied the odds and scored 17 goals across all competitions in his first season as Chelsea’s main striker. He ended the campaign on fire to prove that he’s more than capable of being his own man at the club.

Jackson was one of the first signings last summer and endured a difficult start to life in west London before turning things around in the second half of the campaign.

And former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, who scored that all important goal to deny Liverpool the Premier League title in the 2013/2014 says his fellow Senegalese striker will now only get better after what has been an impressive first year in the Premier League.

He told Responsible gambling: "I'm so glad for him as I know the guys who manage him, Diomansy Kamara who is his mentor, and they are pushing him and giving him the best advice so I’m not surprised he’s doing well.”

On if there will be chance where he could get complacent , Ba said he was certain Jackson’s close circle would be keeping an an eye on every detail to ensure he remained grounded:

He added: "They are not going to let him get carried away and they will make sure that he is on his toes and continues to improve. The thing about being at a club like Chelsea is that there is always competition."

Jackson will however be playing under a new manager next season after the club decided to part company with Mauricio Pochettino despite him leading them from finishing 12th last season to sixth and they could have finished fifth in what was a strong finish to a challenging campaign.
