What Paul Merson has just said about the 'madness' at Chelsea after Mauricio Pochettino sacking

Just after one season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino have decided to part ways with the club now looking for a new manager. Pochettino was hired to rebuild the club and get them back to playing Champions League football and even though they got to the Europa League, the owners did not see that as significant progress.
The decision to let go of the former Tottenham manager has got the football world talking including Paul Merson who described it as 'madness'.

“He got us into Europe and got us into sixth in the league. He’s got this team playing and It's just madness and I can not believe what is going on.”
The direction Chelsea want to go
Chelsea are now looking for a young progressive manager who they believe can bring the best out of the young players they have. Ipswich's Kieran McKenna is one of the leading names as well as Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness and former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi who also has a lot of admirers at Chelsea.
Ultimately football is a result-driven business and the Chelsea board have decided that for next season, they will be better off with another manager who they feel will work with their ideas and play the kind of football that they want going forward.
