Michail Antonio admitted two West Ham stars struggled to deal with an energetic Raheem Sterling last weekend.

West Ham United star Michail Antonio explained the hilarious way the Hammers tried to cope with an in-form Raheem Sterling when playing Chelsea on Sunday.

David Moyes' side claimed a 3-1 scalp over Mauricio Pochettino's men with an impressive performance but one Chelsea player who managed to impress despite the scoreline was Sterling.

The England international won the plaudits for his energetic and persistent performance at the London Stadium and, speaking on the BBC Sounds' Footabllers' Football Podcast, Antonio admitted that his colleagues found the forward a real handful.

He said: "I've not seen a man move that quick with a football. It was a madness! He was just driving everywhere.

"It got to a stage where Emi [Emerson] had kept going, Lucas [Paqueta] has gone over and said, 'Emi, I'll take him'.

"So he's out there, he's tackled Sterling a couple of times but there's one time he's faked left, gone right, chopped it back and Lucas has done a 360 spin then gone on and whipped it across.

"He's gone back to Emi and said, 'Emi, you take it back'. I was dying after the game, we were talking about it and laughing. It was the best game I've ever seen that guy play. He didn't deserve to be on the losing team at all."

Antonio enjoyed one of his best performances in a Hammers shirt against Chelsea and found himself on the scoresheet with a confident finish in the 53rd minute.

Analysing the match after full-time, BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks said: “Sterling was their only shining light in this fixture and he did everything he possibly could to bring his team back into the game. This was the best game I have seen from the England player since he starred in Euro 2020

“Boy, have Chelsea got some work to do. At least it looks like they’ve got Sterling playing again.”
