Chelsea will have to pay Mauricio Pochettino a fee after he left the club halfway through his two-year deal.

Chelsea had to pay Thomas Tuchel a £10million compensation after they decided he was not the right man for the Chelsea project. They then had to pay Graham Potter and his staff £13million less than a year after he left Brighton for the Blues in west London.

Mauricio Pochettino is by far the longest-serving manager under the American ownership and LondonWorld is told he was on a £10million a year wage. The nature of his departure which is said to be ‘amicable’ however means they will not have to pay the staggering £10million a year fee that was on his contract.

Our sources say Pochettino’s lawyers and currently in discussion with the Chelsea lawyers to agree on a fee of around £5million as both parties agreed going their separate ways was the best thing to do.

The decision to part ways was not entirely a surprise but it caught most people off guard and set the Chelsea WhatsApp group on fire.

Chelsea's co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley expressed their gratitude to Pochettino when confirming his departure.

"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge at any time, and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career."

Pochettino also shared his thoughts on leaving the club, saying: "Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club's history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come."
