Chelsea have thrown their weight behind 36-year-old Christopher Vivell as the man to lead them into the new chapter and guide the technical direction under Todd Boehly.

The German has been working at RB Leipzig but will now travel to London this week to sort out his new home and jump straight into work as he looks to attract the best grade of talents to the Premier League side.

Christopher Vivell is famed for signing Manchester City and Norway international Erling Haaland during his time at RB Salzburg- but he’s done pretty well everywhere he’s been , which has caught the attention of the big bosses at Stamford Bridge.

Under the new Chelsea ownership, the idea is to turn the club into the hot bed of talents for all of Europe’s top stars. The club will sign partnership deals with clubs across Europe in a style similar to the Vitesse agreement the club had under former owner Roman Abramovich.

What will be different is that they will invest properly into it and cut loose some of the expensive but low talent that has swollen the wage bill and increased the numbers in the loan army.

Christopher Vivell’s track record from being a scout for Hoffenheim in 2011, to working his way to the very top of the football pyramid is one that suggests he’s more than capable of transforming the club into the talent machine the owners desire.

Players he signed while at RB Salzburg

Leicester City knows the new Chelsea director very well as he first brought their striker Patson Daka to Liefering, the feeder club of Salzburg, before promoting him to the first team where he was a massive hit that led to his move to the Premier League.

He also who signed former Liverpool midfielder Takumi Minamino from Japanese side Cerezo Osaka to Salzburg, Minamino enjoyed his time in the Austrian league before signing for Liverpool.

He also brought Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita to Salzburg, then moved him to RB Leipzig where his sensational form eventually took him to Anfield.

Bayern Munich have also profited from Vevill’s decision to sign Dayot Upamecano at a young age and progressed him through the ranks at Salzburg before he moved to Leipzig and eventually landing in Bavaria.
