Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has opened up on his future amid transfer links leading up to the January transfer window.

Pulisic initially impressed following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund, but he has largely struggled for consistency during his time at Stamford Bridge, failing to nail down a regular starting spot under Thomas Tuchel. The American will be hoping things are different under Graham Potter, aiming to become a regular under the relatively new Blues boss.

But he has still be in and out so far, and there have been reports suggesting he could leave on loan during the January transfer window, while there is also talk of interest from Newcastle United. In the meantime, Pulisic has been competing at the World Cup, and after USA’s run to the Round of 16 in Qatar, he spoke about his situation at Chelsea.

“Right now I’m absolutely back at Chelsea,” Pulisic said to the Indirect Podcast. “Focused and ready to finish the season.

“But you know how things work in football. Things change quickly and anything can happen. At the moment, I am just pushing myself in training and working at Chelsea because that’s where I am right now.”

That will be a boost to fans of Pulisic, but it’s also an open-ended message that certainly doesn’t rule out a move away from Chelsea. Pulisic also spoke about his situation and Potter before heading off to the World Cup. He said: “He’s (Potter) been good. He’s come in and the way he’s worked with the players and communicated with the players has impressed me the most. We had a great start with him.

“We’ve had some difficulties in recent weeks but I think he’s working through it and I think the guys have received him quite well. We’re excited. There’s going to be good things going forward.”
