Chelsea star Raheem Sterling looked absolutely brilliant despite the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United in the league.

Raheem Sterling says Chelsea will look and feel better once they start winning games after their 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League.

The former Manchester City forward was one of the stand-out players for Chelsea despite the defeat, creating a penalty, completing more take on and looking to beat his man at every chance.

Sterling was visibly disappointed his best game in a while was not rewarded with three points but says they will get better with time. He told the club’s channel: “It will get better once we start winning games but we need to keep working hard.”

Chelsea have spent almost £400million in this transfer window trying to replace 12 first-team players who left this summer, Sterling admits it will take time but also called on his teammates to see the defeat to West Ham as a stepping stone to do better.

He added: “You could see us dominating the game, physically we’re better. We just need to cut out some of the stuff we played and keep building. Even though we lost, there were times we played some good football. It’s stepping stones.”

A David Moyes-led team had never gotten the best of a Mauricio Pochettino team- but the Hammers win over the weekend means Chelsea have just one point from their first two games of the season.

Sterling says his teammates will now have to cut out the mistakes to truly make progress. He added: “It’s a difficult one to take for everyone. You have to take your chances. In the Premier League, it will come back to haunt you. They got momentum with the crowd. We need to cut out the mistakes.”

Sterling has now won 12 penalty kicks in his career, more than any player who is currently playing in the league and his manager Pochettino said he was one of the players they were counting on. “He is one we are counting on and he can deliver for us,” the Chelsea boss told the press after the 3-1 loss.

Chelsea will now hope that the injury to Carney Chukwuemeka is not long-term after he left the stadium on crutches minutes after scoring his first senior goal in his career.
