Chelsea player ratings vs West Ham: Mauricio Pochettino suffers first defeat in 3-1 disjointed performance

Chelsea lost to West Ham as manager Mauricio Pochettino suffered his first game as Chelsea manager in east London.

Chelsea suffered their first defeat under new manager Mauricio Pochettino following a disappointing 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League. Nayef Aguerd, Michail Antonio and Lucas Paqueta got the goals for West Ham while Carney Chukwuemeka had Chelsea’s goal.

The Blues enjoyed a formidable first half despite conceding early in the game. Nayef Aguerd’s opened the scoring for the home side with a good header but that served as a wake-up call for Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

Chelsea instantly seized possession and pressed the Hammers till the impressive Carney Chukwuemeka danced through a few players before firing beyond Alphonse Areola to draw the Blues deservedly level.

Raheem Sterling has often been maligned since he moved from Manchester City to Chelsea, but his performance was the main pulling point in the first half and caused problems for David Moyes's team.

The England star also won the penalty but midfielder Enzo stuttered his run up and ended up missing the penalty. Chelsea continued to dominate when six minutes were added at the end of the first half but West Ham did enough to end the half level.

Michail Antonio, West Ham’s top scorer last season with 14 goals showed why he is so important to them when he took the ball with little support and held up well before firing beyond Robert Sanchez in post for Chelsea.

Chelsea did have an advantage when Nayef Aguerd was sent off for a bad tackle on Nicolas Jackson- which prompted a change in formation from David Moyes with a bank of five and forcing Chelsea out wide as they chased the equaliser.

But the game will be won when a rash tackle from debuting Moises Caicedo gave West Ham a penalty and Lucas Paqueta stepped up to finish brilliantly. Here is how we rated every Chelsea player out there:
