Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino insists there is no way defender Levi Colwill leaves the club this summer despite Brighton’s attempt to have him included in the Caicedo deal.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has backed young defender Levi Colwell to go all the way and become of the greatest centre-backs the game has ever produced.

Chelsea saw another £80million bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo rejected on arrival as the Seagull club holds out for a fee in the region of £100million or gets Chelsea to add defender Colwill to the deal.

Treble winners Manchester City have also been recently reported to be interested in the left-centre half who has this unique ability to break the lines with a forward pass while Liverpool have also never really gotten over him after making their interest known at the start of the summer.

Chelsea wants Caicedo and will continue to work to either get Brighton to agree to reduce the price at some stage or just pay the asking fee but have definitely ruled out the possibility of adding Colwill to the deal.

Even manager Mauricio Pochettino warned the rest of the football world that the defender had every ingredient to be the next big thing.

He told reporters: “I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it is only the first game with us after the season with Brighton. I am so happy, he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England

Chelsea sold three of their top midfielders from last season including N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and home-grown Mason Mount and that has made the chase for Caicedo incredibly important as they bid to give quality to Pochettino and balance the team.
