Asked about what made him want to sign the former Manchester City Academy product, he admitted he’d been admiring him for a while now. He told the press ahead of the game this weekend.

“We all know him, his quality and his profile. I think he is the perfect player for this project. We are excited and we are so happy to have him in the squad.”

The Chelsea manager also detailed how hard the owners had to work to secure the signing of Moises Caicedo who is expected to debut against West Ham too.

He said: “The club worked really, really hard. I would like to congratulate the owners, the sporting directors, and everyone involved because the job was amazing. To add this sort of player like Moises, or Romeo now, I think it was fantastic work from the club.
