However, one other big name star the London side continue to be linked with is Juventus’ centre back Matthijs de Ligt.

With Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen both leaving the club on free transfers to join Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, the Stamford Bridge side are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements.

Here is what the latest reports on Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer situation are saying:

Juventus ‘set minimum price’ for de Ligt transfer

According to a report in The Express, Juventus want a transfer fee of £68 million for the Dutch centre back.

Previous reports had suggested it would take around £105 million for the Italian side to consider parting with the 22-year old but it now appears they have softened their stance with Chelsea and Bayern Munich both ‘circling’.

Meanwhile, The Sun are reporting that Manchester United have contacted Matthijs de Ligt’s agents over a potential transfer ‘in a bid to hijack Chelsea’s move’.

The former Ajax star worked under new United head coach Erik ten Hag at the Amsterdam club before his €75 million move to Turin in 2019.

Crucially, the same report claims that both Chelsea and United’s interest in the defender has been “rebuffed” by the player’s camp.

According to oddsmakers, Bayern Munich are the current frontrunner to sign de Ligt in this current transfer window.

The Bundesliga champions are currently priced at 2/5, suggesting a move is very likely, while Chelsea are second favourites at 3/1.

The next most likely outcome, at 6/1, is that the 22-year old will remain a Juventus player by September 3 while Manchester United and Manchester City are 20/1 to complete a move.

Also in the market are Barcelona and PSG at 33/1.
