Chelsea’s busy January transfer window continues to unwind.

The Blues have already racked up a huge spending total this month as they continue to spend big under Todd Boehly’s ownership. Mykhailo Mudryk is the biggest of the signings so far, while Enzo Fernandez’s potential arrival could be worth even more. Chelsea may not be done there, either, with Bayern Munich star Marcel Sabitzer being linked in the wake of Jorginho’s likely move to Arsenal.

Here we round up what you need to know about Sabitzer’s possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Sky Sports Germany report Chelsea have enquired about Sabitzer, looking to add depth to their midfield amid the expected departure of Jorginho.

Jorginho has gone to Arsenal, leaving Chelsea with a gap in their midfield, with Hakim Ziyech also looking likely to leave, albeit the Moroccan plays a more advanced role. Sabitzer has been touted as a possible signing, and it is now being reported that Chelsea are in the race to land the Bayern Munich star.

Man Utd developments

Chelsea are not alone in their interest of Sabitzer, with Manchester United also said to be in the race.

United have lost Christian Eriksen until late April or May, and Sabitzer is reportedly seen as a possible stop-gap. Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenburg is reporting that United are now ‘pushing a lot’ to get Sabitzer over the line after losing Eriksen. The race for the 28-year-old could go to the death, especially with more than one club interested.

It will be interesting to see how the possible Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea deal impacts this chase.

Further updates on the situation have seen Sabitzer arrive at the Man Utd training ground ahead of a move, according to the MEN. A loan switch from Bayern Munich is expected to be confirmed.

Sabitzer stance

According to Plettenburg, Sabitzer is ‘ready to leave Bayern today’, despite being under contract until 2025.

Sabitzer is keen for a fresh start and to get regular football after starting just seven Bundesliga games so far this season. The report claims Bayern are willing to allow Sabitzer to leave, already ‘in talks’ with both Chelsea and United.
