Leicester City are hoping that their star midfielder will be ready for their trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Leicester and England international midfielder James Maddison is a huge doubt for the Premier League game against Chelsea this weekend.

The midfielder felt a twinge in his muscle in training and will have to be assessed before they travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Maddison’s potential absence will be a massive blow to the Foxes who are without a win in the first three games of the Premier League season.

They have drawn once, on the opening day against Brentford but lost their last two games to Arsenal and Southampton.

Maddison has scored or assisted in the last seven games he’s been involved in, including a goal against Chelsea at the end of last season.

Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed they had to give him time to recover after he complained of a twinge in training.

He told reporters ahead of the game: “We’ve got an issue around James Maddison but we’ll see how that is tomorrow (Friday).

“That would be the only doubt at the moment. He just felt a twinge when he was training yesterday (Wednesday).”

Two other players have definitely been ruled out of the game at Stamford Bridge for the Foxes with Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) and Ryan Bertrand (knee) absent with long term injuries.

Wantaway defender Wesley Fofana is also training with the under-21 side and will be left out of the team as interest from Chelsea continue to dominate the headlines.
