Leicester City vs Chelsea injury news as 3 sidelined and 8 doubts

A look at the injury news surrounding Chelsea and Leicester City as the two sides prepare to face off in the Premier League at the King Power Stadium.

Chelsea are back in action this weekend when they face Leicester City in Enzo Maresca’s King Power Stadium return. The Blues will be hoping to pick up where they left off having gone into the break in strong form, sitting inside the top four.

Meanwhile, the Foxes are in 15th as they negotiate their first season back in the top tier, and head coach Steve Cooper is yet to fully win over fans. Here we round up all the injury news surrounding both teams ahead of the managers giving fresh updates in their respective pre-match press conferences.

Bobby Decordova-Reid - Doubt

Cooper said of Reid before the break: “He picked up quite a nasty wound in the League Cup on his Achilles. It keeps opening up when he tries to go to the next step. We’re hoping that can heal quickly but he hasn't been out on the grass with us yet so he’s probably doubtful for the weekend.” It’s likely Reid will be available this weekend.

Patson Daka - Doubt

Cooper said before the break: “He had a serious injury that ruled him out for 3-4 months and we just have to be careful. It’s tempting just to throw him straight back in, but at the same time we don’t want to do that to the detriment of getting him fully fit.” Daka could be in contention for this one.

Jamie Vardy - Doubt

Vardy is another who will be battling to be in contention, with Cooper saying before the internationals: “Vards is a little bit inconclusive. He picked up a back injury at Ipswich and struggled to shake it off, so we're still seeing how that goes in terms of how long he will be out for.”

Jakub Stolarczyk - Doubt

“[He] had a similar injury [to Daka]. His rehab is slightly different, with him being a GK,” Cooper has said back in October. “He’s able to be out on the grass a little more, still with the medical and rehab team. He’s in that same period towards the final stage of rehab.” The Keeper could be in contention but may not be risked just yet.

Ricardo Pereira - Out

Pereira has struggled with injuries over recent years and he will be out for another long spell. Cooper has said: “Ricky is more conclusive. It's a serious muscle injury that will rule him out for 3-4 months, so it's a real blow for everyone, especially him, and it's a bad time, but now we need to support him with his recovery.”

Jordan Ayew - Out

Ayew remains out with a knee injury, and there is no clear timeline for his return.

Issahaku Fatawu - Doubt

Fatawu has been out with a small injury but it’s not clear when he will return.

Jadon Sancho - Fit

Sancho was suffering with illness before the break. He will be back in contention here having already returned to training.

Malo Gusto - Doubt

Gusto is a doubt with an ankle injury.

Wesley Fofana - Doubt

Fofana picked up a knee injury before the break and will be a doubt. Chelsea will be hoping to break has done him good. It’s expected he will be fine to play this weekend.

Romeo Lavia - Doubt

Belgium boss Dominic Tedesco has said: “I think Romeo has a hamstring problem. It was bothering him this morning, and we didn't want to risk him.”

Omari Kellyman - Out

Kellyman is said to be closing in on a return from his hamstring injury, but he is not likely to be ready just yet.
