Chelsea fans on social media are divided over the performance of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, with reports from The Sun indicating that the Blues were considering Liverpool’s deputy goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The club has since played down those claims and links, but it still doesn’t erase the fact that the player who has faced a lot of criticism is the Spanish goalkeeper. It’s clear he is one of the players with a strong personality, and he doesn’t shy away when things are tough, which is a trait the manager seems to appreciate.

The Big Picture
This season, Sanchez has been the undisputed number-one goalkeeper at the club, but he has kept just two clean sheets. While that doesn’t solely reflect on him, it certainly helps when a shot-stopper can contribute to clean sheets, which in turn help the team secure results.
Manager Maresca has already strengthened his options between the sticks by completing the £20.7 million acquisition of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal during the summer transfer window.
The club also has plans for Mike Penders, who was signed in the summer and allowed to stay at his previous club for development.
