Juventus chief Cristiano Giuntoli has hit back at fans over the potential signing of Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku.

The Lukaku situation has blown up in recent days following Inter Milan’s apparant decision to walk away from a deal. Inter were said to be interested in a move for Lukaku, who spent last season on loan with the club, helping them reach the final of the Champions League.

But after it emerged Lukaku’s representatives were also speaking to fellow Serie A club Juventus, Inter put their foot in the ground and turned the other way.

Juventus may remain interested, but the Old Lady have challenges of their own in their reported bid to land the Belgian forward. Aside from the fact they need to sell players in order to sign more this summer, Juventus fans have been revolting over the potential signing of Lukaku, with supporters firmly against the idea.

Then again, Juventus chief Giuntoli doesn’t really case about the fan backlash, or at least if his most recent comments are anything to go by.

He said of the situation: “We are in the initial stage of gathering information on everyone. At the moment we are betting very strongly on Vlahović, Chiesa, Kean, Milik. Fans don’t want him? We’re not worried about consequences of something that doesn’t exist now”.

Lukaku joined Chelsea for around £100million two years ago, but the Blues are going to have to take a huge cut on that fee, reportedly demanding around £30million plus bonuses this summer. Lukaku scored eight goals in 26 league appearances after returning to Stamford Bridge, but he quickly fell out of favour and was sent out on loan.

He scored 10 goals in 25 league appearances back at Inter, but he now looks to have been left in limbo, and Chelsea will want to bring in whatever cash they can get for the 30-year-old amid the arrival of Christopher Nkunku.
