'Just too much' - Chelsea told how to improve by Gary Neville after Liverpool loss
Chelsea fell to a loss at Anfield against Liverpool
Gary Neville believes Liverpool had more ‘maturity’ and ‘experience’ against Chelsea. The Blues lost 2-1 to the Reds at Anfield.
Enzo Maresca’s side fell behind in the first-half after Mo Salah slammed home a penalty. The game went into half-time at 1-0 but the visitors equalised shortly after the interval through attacker Nicolas Jackson.
However, Chelsea fell behind shortly after when Curtis Jones struck for Liverpool. They then weren’t able to find an equaliser.
Speaking afterwards, Neville, who was on co-commentary duties for Sky Sports, delivered his verdict on the game and said: “Both sets of fans are clapping which I think is a testament to the fact that Chelsea fans believe that their team has done ok today. In the end, it was just too much for them. He’ll (Maresca) will realise that maturity, experience, game management and controlling a game - Liverpool just had more ot it and deservably won.”
Meanwhile, pundit Jamie Carragher added: “Chelsea played their part in it. It almost feels like the first real big game or result for Arne Slot at Anfield. Anfield really gets going in games like this. Liverpool were under the cosh for a long period of time. They weren’t at their best but they found a way to win, that has been the hallmark of so many great Liverpool teams in the past. At time you need the Anfield crowd and they got Liverpool over the line.”
Ex-Chelsea and Liverpool man Daniel Sturridge said: “End to end stuff. Chelsea were very good in the first-half, they had some very nice patterns of play and created opportunities. Throughout the course of the game though, Liverpool showed their quality. It was a magnificent game.”

Chelsea are back in action on Thursday night with a Europa Conference League away trip to Panathinaikos. They then take on Newcastle United at home on Sunday in the league as they look to return to winning ways.
