Chelsea have signed one of the best youngsters in the world and it’s only a matter of time before the world takes notice.

Few signings excite Chelsea fans like that of Estevao Willian. At just 17-yearsold, he’s already considered one of the best players in the Brazilian league, and every day, you see Chelsea fans on social media counting down the days until he joins the team in the summer.

There is still some uncertainty about how his development will unfold, as there are few players who were signed at that age and then sent to France to play for Chelsea's affiliate team, Chelsea Strasbourg, to help them adapt to European football before stepping into the Premier League.

But Estevao could be an exception. Speak to anyone in Brazil, and they’ll mention him as one of the most exciting talents in the country. His 12 goals and 8 assists in 27 games for Palmeiras are impressive, but those numbers don't even tell the full story.

He reminds many of Neymar when he first broke through, young, exciting, and a "proper edge-of-your-seat" player with the ability to win games.

While some argue that the physicality of the Premier League might require players built like him to develop further, Palmeiras has proven that you can overcome physical challenges with skill, and while physicality can be an advantage, it’s not always a disadvantage.

Chelsea already have wingers with great potential, but none of them have the same goal-scoring threat and excitement that Estêvão is currently showing. He may be the youngest, but he will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting players.

Chelsea managed to beat out teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City to sign him, and one thing is certain: he will be given the chance to have a pre-season with the club in the summer. If he can replicate—or even come close to—his current level of performance, he’ll go straight into the first team.
