Arsenal and Chelsea legend William Gallas has urged the Gunners to push for the signing of striker Victor Osimehn as the two London clubs continue to be linked with a transfer battle for the prolific 25-year-old.
The Nigeria international appeared to come close to signing at Stamford Bridge at the end of this summer's transfer window but that deal fell through. Osimhen instead moved to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli.

At points, it had been thought that Osimhen could cost over £100 million but talk of that staggering fee has dropped as time goes on.
Arsenal told to move for Galatasaray striker
Speaking about why Arsenal should make a move for the player, Gallas told Prime Casino: "If I could sign one player for Arsenal in January, it would be a world-class striker, but they are not available in January. No top, top strikers are available at the moment. I wanted to speak about Osimhen because I know he's at Galatasaray, and I still don't understand why he's there.
"That’s the type of profile Arsenal need. They need a player with that pedigree. With Victor, maybe he won't score 20 goals in the season, but he will scare defenders, he will give them a hard time, and that will give the opportunity for players around him to score goals. That's why he reminds me a little bit of Drogba.

"If you remember when Drogba was at Chelsea, he gave the defenders a hard time. Frank Lampard was around, almost a second striker, and always scored. I think, maybe one season, he had more goals than Didier.

That statement comes after a tough run of results for Mikel Arteta's side. The Gunners managed just a point at Chelsea on Sunday and are now without a win in their last four Premier League outings, having lost to AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United, as well as drawing against Liverpool.
January move could still happen for Victor Osimhen
Arsenal sit fourth in the table but are already nine points behind league leaders Liverpool. A January move for a talisman could boost hopes of staying in the title race - which may be possible for Osimhen, despite his latest loan love.
After the player arrived in Turkey this summer, Sky Sports Italia claimed that before leaving Italy Osimhen agreed a deal with Napoli to lower his release clause from £109.5million to £63.2million. He has also agreed that Napoli can extend his contract if he is not sold next summer.

The assumption, however, is that the clause will only become activated if a purchase is made rather than another loan proposal, and both London clubs do have to be careful with Profit and Sustainability rules. Should a deal be done, Osimhen would not be cup tied in European competition because Galatasaray are in the Europa League.
Any moves that Arsenal do make in the January window will come as somewhat new ground following the departure of Edu. The former player has overseen transfer activity since 2019 before his surprise resignation this month.
