Enzo Fernandez dismissed suggestions about a potential Chelsea exit following the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace

Enzo Fernandez has rejected any suggestions that he is angling for a Chelsea exit this summer.

A report last week claimed the Argentine was considering calling quits at Stamford Bridge less than 18 months after his club-record arrival. Fernandez joined the Blues from Benfica for £105million having won the World Cup a month earlier.

Chelsea fans have witnessed glimpses of his brilliance but that has not been enough to lift the club from the mid-table doldrums. With a contract until 2031, any club would need to stump up a staggering fee to lure Fernandez from West London.

That report appears to have ignited a fire in the 23-year-old’s belly as arguably his best two performances for Chelsea have come at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. At Villa Park, Fernandez scored a stunning free-kick before signalling to the away end he plans to stay put.

The midfielder followed that up with a stoppage-time clincher in the 3-1 win over the Eagles on Monday. Speaking post-match, Fernandez rubbished the claims further - insisting he is “happy” at Chelsea and talk of him leaving was nonsense on social media.

“I don't want to leave Chelsea,” Fernandez told ESPN. “I am very good here with my teammates and coaching staff from the first day I arrived. The people at the club are treating me very well, I'm grateful for that.

“I will continue here until they want me to. I don't know where those rumours came from, they had spoken on social networks. I came out to totally deny that.”
