Chelsea came from a goal down to beat Dinamo Zagreb and get back on track ahead of their weekend Premier League game against leaders Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues had to do things the hard way though, coming from a goal down after a sluggish start that allowed Bruno Petković to open the scoring for Dinamo Zagreb. Raheem Sterling, who hadn’t scored Potter’s first game, levelled things for the home side before Denis Zakaria, on his debut, got the winner.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang produced one of his best performances in recent time with a classy display to remind everyone that he was still one of the best forwards in England. He would get the assist for Sterling’s goal and his curling effort struck the woodwork after the goalkeeper was beaten.

By the time Aubameyang  was replaced, Chelsea were creating all the chances and he looked unhappy as he took his place on the bench but his manager stopped him to have a word with and went to him again after the final whistle to whisper some words as he gears up to face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

The Gabonese striker’s display will delight his manager as he goes in search of a statemnet win the Premier League to kick start his tenure as Chelsea manager. The communication between the new technical team and players brought in by former manager Thomas Tuchel has been improving by the day and that was clear to see after the Champions League game on Wednesday night.

Another player who had instruction to go out and work on his fitness was Hakim Ziyech. He’s had little game time this season and with the rain bouncing off the pitch at Stamford Bridge, he was the only player who was instructed to go out and work on fitness after the game. Ziyech seemed to be happy doing that and was seen running up and down the pitch and smiling.

Chelsea have lost just once under Potter who was hired after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel just two months ago and even though it’s still early days yet, the football looked to be improving and the tactical flexibility is at the heart of what he’s doing.
