The football world has been reacting to the news of Mauricio Pochettino leaving Chelsea.

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba says the club enjoyed a good season under now sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea confirmed via a statement that Pochettino had left the club despite what was a strong end to a challenging season.

Pochettino, 52, took charge of Chelsea on 1 July, signing a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

The Argentine was under pressure after an underwhelming first half of the season but a run of five successive wins to end the season ensured they finished sixth in the Premier League.

And speaking to Responsible Gambling Ba said considering everything and how unpredictable football was, the Argentinian had done a decent job. The former Chelsea and Newcastle man said: "The way they started the season, you would not have thought they could get this far, but that is the nature of football."

"It's just a shame they have run out of games because they are playing well now and putting teams away easily.Overall, they have done well and improved."

Chelsea have to build from scratch again

Pochettino took over Chelsea when they finished 12th on the league table, their worst league outing in 20 years but this year they got to the final of the League Cup, the semi-final of the FA cup and could still get Europa League football.

The decision to sack the Argentinian has not gone down well with most Chelsea fans and it remains to be seen which manager they will be able to convince to come in and take the job.
