Hide AdLiverpool jumped ahead of Chelsea late on Thursday night after having a fee believed to be around £111million agreed for the Ecuador international. Chelsea had been favourites all summer and had three offers rejected including one that was said to be around £85million.
The Blues would eventually agree to up their bid to around £100million but by that time Liverpool had placed a British record fee that Brighton accepted.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his press conference they had agreed a deal even though he could not tell when a medical would be held. He told reporters ahead on Friday afternoon.

“Let’s see what happens and then we go from there. I don’t know [if there is a medical today].”
But journalists including the often reliable Fabrizio Romano has claimed Caicedo is slowing down his arranged medical at Liverpool as he wants to join Chelsea.

Hide AdRomano has said: “Moisés Caicedo has just informed Liverpool that he only wants to join Chelsea! #CFC Caicedo has decided to keep his word and only accept Chelsea as personal terms were agreed since end of May. Chelsea, set to bid again in order to get deal done with Brighton.”
What does that mean
Brighton had always maintained that the midfielder will only leave the club for a fee in the region of £100million but the sudden arrival of Liverpool late to the party but keen on getting the deal done has meant they are possibly walking away with more than they initially thought.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer him double the wages that Liverpool offered even though they will now have to surely pay more than they had initially budgeted for if they are to turn this deal on its head.
