Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea have 'agreed record fee' to sign striker
Chelsea are said to have agreed a deal to sign a young talent.
Chelsea are said to have secured a record signing just over a week away from the end of the January transfer window. The Blues have been concentrating on exits so far this month, with Enzo Maresca promising those who aren’t playing regularly the chance to move on.
Renato Veiga and Cesare Casadei are headed to Italy, while Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka are also being linked with an exit having struggled for game time.
The situation is unclear as far as incomings go, and Chelsea are only likely to make a high-profile signing if the right deal comes up, or perhaps if they decide to offload Christopher Nkunku.
In the meantime, the Blues have reportedly struck a record deal to sign a talented youngster. Fabrizio Romano has tweeted: “Chelsea have agreed deal to sign 2008 born talent Dastan Satpaev from Kazakhstan. Transfer fee worth €4m package add-ons included from Kairat Almaty. Record transfer for Kazakhstan league as Dastan will join Chelsea on a 5 year deal plus 1 year option when he turns 18.”
The deal means Satpaev will join Chelsea in August of 2026, when he turns 18. The forward is a both-footed centre-forward who was previously under contract until 2026. The youngster is also able to play on the wing, although he is predominantly a striker.
Chelsea have placed plenty of focus on signing young talent in the last couple of years, with the club eager to spend on players they can develop. It shows, too, with Chelsea having the youngest average age in the Premier League so far this season. Over the 27 players they have used in the league, the average age is 23.5 years, which is almost a full year (0.9) younger than the next youngest in Brighton. The next top four club is Arsenal, whose 24 used players in the Premier League have an average age of 25.7.
