Enzo Maresca says £100m Chelsea star 'stays behind' to train after everyone has left Cobham
Chelsea manager has been speaking about his team and the returning players ahead of the Liverpool game.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says that £100 million signing Moises Caicedo is one of the players who stays behind after training sessions to work on improving his game. Caicedo has shown glimpses of the brilliance that led Chelsea to break the bank and beat Liverpool to secure the Ecuadorian's signature in the summer of 2023.
Although he’s had a slow start to the season, there have been matches where he has been unstoppable, displaying tactical discipline. The Blues will need him at his best as they head to Anfield for what promises to be a stern test.
When asked about how he's ensuring that Caicedo continues to develop and reach his full potential, Maresca emphasized Caicedo's commitment. He mentioned that Caicedo is one of the few players who stays after sessions for extra work.
He told LondonWorld: “I don't know. That's more a question for him. I really believe that to improve as a team, you need to improve the players. We are trying to do that, not only with Moi but with all the players. We dedicate time to them, spend time with them, and do extra work almost every day.
“At the end of the session, we keep players for extra work, and Moi is one of them. We are happy with the way he is playing. We didn't have any doubts about him as a player or a person, and we are very happy with him at the moment."
