Confirmed Chelsea injury news and predicted return dates ahead of Liverpool

Chelsea are on their way back to the United Kingdom after a successful two-week stay in the United States where they played five games, won three and drew two as Pochettino put the players in shape ahead of the new Premier League season.

Several young players gave themselves a good chance of playing a role when Liverpool come to London for the first game of the 2023/2024 league season next week.

Ian Maatsen, Andrey Santos, Conor Gallagher and Malo Gusto all showed they were more can capable of playing for the club in the Premier League while Reece James injured at the end of last season got some games. There was however an injury scare to new signing Christopher Nkunku and defender Trevoh Chalobah.

So with that in mind, here are the predicted return dates of the injured players.

Trevoh Chalobah:

The Chelsea academy graduate was introduced in the seond half against Fulham but picked up an injury that kept him out of the game against Dortmund. Initial reports are that it is nothing serious even though he is now in a race against time to be fit for the Liverpool game next weekend.

Christopher Nkunku

Had a big worry on his way as he left the pitch just 22 minutes into the game against Dortmund. Manager Pochettino did not give much away. He stated, “He feels something in his knee but hopefully it is not a big issue and he can be quick with the team.”

The true extent is not known though he is also one that will now be in danger of not being risked for the first game of the season against Liverpool.

Noni Madueke

The England under-21 star has been incredibly unlucky in the last two weeks. He picked up a tight hamstring issue while with the England under-21 team but travelled with the team to America with the hope of taking part.

He was with the team against Fulham even though he never really got on the pitch and by the time the game against Dortmund came around, it was decided he should not be risked. One of the outstanding players at the end of last season, there is a chance that he’d be fully fit in the coming days though it remains to be seen if he’d get minutes given his lack of action in the States.

Wesley Fofana

The French defender is struggling to find his fitness at Chelsea, the latest a knee injury that is expected to keep him out for at least six months. He arrived at Chelsea after a broken leg, then picked up a knee injury and then a few hamstring injuries in between.

Then picked up another knee injury in the first week of pre-season that has ruled him out for at least half the season. definitely out against Against Liverpool.

Benoit Badiashile

The 22-year-old is in Cobham recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up at the end of last season. The club confirmed he was supposed to be out for a considerable amount of time even though not many expected him to not kick a ball the entire pre-season. The expectations are that he will be back at the end of this August.
