Cole Palmer says Mauricio Pochettino held discussions with Chelsea players about recent criticism from 'fans'

Cole Palmer has 10 goals and 12 assists for Chelsea since joining from Manchester City in the summer.

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer says Mauricio Pochettino has asked them to 'stick together' and believe in the process ahead of the game against Newcastle this weekend. Chelsea fans went after Pochettino during the draw against Brentford, with some calling for his sacking and the return of Jose Mourinho.

The Blues have struggled in the league, winning only 10 of their 26 games and just not being able to consistently put away teams even when they win. Since the take over in May 2022, Chelsea have spent £1billion on the squad with former Manchester United captain Gary Neville recently labelling the project as a 'blue billion-pound bottlejobs.'

But Palmer says they are making progress and admits they see all the fan reactions. He also says Pochettino has asked them to stick together to block out the outside noise.

He told ESPN: "I feel like you guys don't see it every day on the training pitch, what we do.

"On a Saturday, if we don't get a result then it is all 'Chelsea's this, Chelsea's that' which I understand because obviously football can be like that but I think what we're building, the fans will see what we're doing.

"The manager has said to us -- and the players are not stupid -- we see every day what the fans say and stuff so he's said to us stick together, you believe in us, the players believe in the manager as well and eventually we'll see it."

Despite Chelsea's challenges this season, Palmer has been a shining light- bagging 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
