Chelsea’s predicted starting XI amid transfer updates - Sterling to complete move, Arsenal eye Kante
There haven’t been any new arrivals at Stamford Bridge so far and the new Premier League season is fast approaching.
Chelsea have a lot of work still do in the summer transfer window as Thomas Tuchel gets set to lead the Blues into the 2022/23 Premier League season next month.
Several high profile names including Romelu Lukaku, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger have already left the club while Marcos Alonso is another key player who could be set to exit.
However, their first signing of the window looks likely to be announced this week as England international Raheem Sterling completes a £47.5 million move.
The latest transfer new stories have Chelsea linked with several players including Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly while Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt is still thought to be of interest with Juventus setting a minimum price of £68 million.
One particularly surprising but of news this week is that Arsenal could be lining up a move for N’Golo Kante in this window - could that create a space in Chelsea’s midfield for them to finally make a serious push to land boyhood Blues’ fan Declan Rice?
Then there’s the question of Cristiano Ronaldo who wasn’t to leave Manchester United this summer with Stamford Bridge currently seen as one of his most likely destinations.
Here is how we think a potential Chelsea starting XI could look based on the latest transfer news stories on Monday, July 11:

5. LB - Borna Sosa
With Marcos Alonso’s departure likely there is need for a new left back and the Croatian has been the player most consistently linked but there has also been talk of Brighton’s Marc Cucurella although Man City is reportedly his preffered option

6. CM - Jorginho
The Italian was one of the most consistent performers in a Chelsea shirt last season and will likely be one of the first names on Thomas Tuchel’s team sheet going into the 2022/23 campaign

7. CM - Declan Rice
It still looks likely that West Ham will retain the midfielder, who they have previously valued at £150m, but with recent reports linking N’golo Kante with a shock move to Arsenal there could be a gap in Chelsea’s midfield that needs filled

8. CM - Mason Mount
Another player who was one of the stand outs from last seasons, contributing 13 goals in all competitions, and will be sure to play his part once again when the new campaign gets underway next month
