Chelsea’s big-money transfer ‘falling apart’ as ‘talks’ take place over exit of £36m star

All the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours as Thomas Tuchel looks to plug key gaps and improve a number of positions.

Chelsea will return to pre-season training this weekend as they begin preparations for the new season.

The Blues largely disappointed last season, and they need improvements ahead of the new season, especially if they are going to bridge the gap between themselves and the top two.

Chelsea also need to replace departing stars, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving at the end of their respective contracts.

That means defenders are required for Thomas Tuchel, but the German boss will also want to improve his attacking options, with Romelu Lukaku headed out on loan.

With all that in mind, we have rounded up the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Raphinha deal falling apart

Chelsea’s bid to sign Leeds United star Raphinha may be falling apart.

It was reported earlier this week that the Blues had agreed a deal for the Brazilian with Leeds, but personal terms are another matter.

And according to Sport, Raphinha remains keen on a move to Barcelona, and he has told agent Deco to stop discussing a move to Chelsea.

Ziyech could be heading out

Ziyech talks

The Blues are said to be in talks with AC Milan to send Hakim Ziyech out on loan.

Ziyech has shown flashes at the Blues, but he has not managed to nail down a regular starting spot, and that is not likely to improve this season.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, talks are ongoing over a loan deal, but there may be issues over the wages, with Ziyech earning around £5million per year.

Samuels-Smith links

Chelsea are said to be pushing for a move to sign Everton youngster Ishé Samuels-Smith this summer.

According to Football Insider, the Blues are looking to snap up the 16-year-old England youth international.

Chelsea would have to pay compensation if they do lure Samuels-Smith to Stamford Bridge, with the left-back yet to sign professional terms.
