Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham will go head to head for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana in the summer, LondonWorld understands.

Chelsea who have endured an underwhelming campaign are widely expected to replace first-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and out-of-favour Edouard Mendy in the summer.

Kepa has shown tremendous mental strength and skill to reclaim the starting spot at Chelsea, but the feeling within the club is that they’ll need an upgrade if they are to compete for titles in the long term.

Edouard Mendy, an unbeatable force in the Champions League winning season, has so far failed to agree to a new contract offered and the club will listen to offers for him too in the summer, sources have confirmed.

Inter Milan value Cameroon international Onana at around £40 million and his financial demands are reasonable, making him an attractive player for the Blues.

Tottenham are also in the market for a new goalkeeper with captain and first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris confirmed to be out for the remainder of the season. There are also concerns that he might have played his last game for the club.

Onana, 27, is regarded as one of the best sweeper keepers around and his ball-playing ability has made him a highly sought-after goalkeeper in Europe.

The shot stopper has conceded 19 goals in 21 games and recently retired from the Cameroon national team meaning he’ll be available for club duties even during next year’s AFCON.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham are also without a permanent manager and are currently on the hunt for the right man to lead the respective clubs next season.

Chelsea are closing in on former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino while Tottenham have held talks with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.
