Chelsea rule out 20-year-old from Aston Villa FA Cup game

Chelsea have eight players out injured ahead of their FA Cup game against Aston Villa tomorrow night.

Chelsea say defender Levi Colwill is still not ready to play against Aston Villa tomorrow night after picking up an injury last week. The England international pulled out of the first leg with what looked like a hamstring problem and he's still not recovered.

In his absence, the Blues have lost to Liverpool and Wolves with pressure mounting on the Argentinian manager to turn things around. Colwill was a mainstay in the starting eleven and his presence gave the Chelsea boss the option of playing Ben Chilwell at wing-back.

Ahead of the game, the club released a list of players who were still working hard to return which included Colwill. The statement read: "Levi Colwill is beginning the reconditioning phase."

Trevoh Chalobah, Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu are all still not ready to be involved. Injuries have had an impact on the team's performance especially with club captain Reece James ruled out for large parts of the campaign so far.

Chelsea needing a reaction

This has been a difficult week for Pochettino who has seen his team concede four goals in back-to-back games. They travel to Villa Park looking to avoid three straight defeats. There was a meeting after the Wolves defeat but the decision has been made for the Chelsea boss to stay on and fight for his job.

The 2021 Champions League winners have reached the final of the League Cup and if they can knock out Villa and progress in the FA Cup will serve as a massive boost in a season that has seen little positives.
