Chelsea have ‘requested a meeting’ with Real Madrid over the potential signing of Eder Militao, according to reports.

The centre-back has attracted interest from ‘several clubs’ according to Marca, with the Blues going as far as ‘calling’ the Brazilian.

However, the site suggests Real are looking to renew the 24-year-old’s contract despite his current deal with the club not expiring until 2025.

The defender has been a key part of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this season, making 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting his teammates on the same number of occasions.

Marca adds there has been no ‘formal conversation’ between Militao and Los Blancos regarding a new contract as of writing.

Their report claims of all potential suitors, which include Bayern Munich and Manchester United, Chelsea ‘stands out’ with the Blues ‘requesting a meeting’ with the Brazilian’s agent Ulisses Jorge.

However, they state that Militao is ‘happy’ in the Spanish capital and his ‘priority’ is to stay with Real, as well as him preferring ‘not to move’ in a World Cup year.

The news of Chelsea’s interest in Militao could be due to them potentially losing three defenders for free this summer.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen’s contract at Stamford Bridge expire at the end of the current campaign with none of the trio yet to sign new deals.

The Blues would have to match or better Militao’s reported £3.5m base salary per season at Los Blancos in order to persuade the 24-year-old to make the switch to west London.
