Enzo Maresca is going to have to draft up a near-expert game plan to topple what is arguably the best team in the world, and as he puts together a plan, we have rounded up all the latest injury and suspension news surrounding both teams.

Chelsea’s injuries and suspensions

Chelsea will get their suspended players back here, including Liam Delap, and there are no further suspensions due to the fact yellow cards were wiped in the semi-finals. The Blues were without Romero Lavia last time out, and he will remain a doubt here, while Reece James returned off the bench last time out. Benoit Badiashile is expected to miss out with injury, while Wesley Fofana did not travel to the United States due to having a long-term issue that kept him out for much of the season.

PSG injury and suspension news

PSG will be without Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez, who are both suspended. Both players received red cards in the quarter-final against Bayern Munich and were hit with two-game suspensions by FIFA. Their tournament is over. The Champions League champions have no further injury absences heading into the final.

What Luis Enrique has said

PSG boss Luis Enrique said after the game: "It is a very special moment for us, Parisians, for all the supporters, the entire club. I think we did a really good job and played a great match. We’re happy, we’re in the final, and it’s been an incredible season. We want to win this final. Everyone saw the stifling heat, it’s incredible to play in that. I think it affected both teams, but we kept playing and fighting. I think it’s a beautiful moment for all Parisians."

He added: “My phone is full of messages from Barcelona fans, which tells you about how big this game was. You go at 100% for everything this shirt represents and we know what Real Madrid are, what they were and what they will always be, how great they are. We didn’t put the brakes on but of course with the heat, with the final in three days’ time, with cramp and the risk of tiredness, you act. The first thing is the objective, which is to reach the final and compete. But at no point do you put the brakes on.”

What Enzo Maresca has said

Chelsea boss Maresca has said: “We are very happy with Joao, we know that Joao is a very good player and a student. Because he has qualities inside, like today. I think another thing that is important about Joao is that he was on holiday, so is a bit more fresh compared to the rest. So it’s something that is important to be aware of that. So, I’m happy for Joao.

“We knew how good he was as a player. The reason why we brought him is because this season we faced many teams with a low block. His quality is very good against this kind of team. As a player, as a person, first of all, he is from Brazil. Most of the Brazilian players are very happy with their journey with football. Also, he worked with a friend of mine in Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi. I spoke with Roberto a while ago. This is exactly the way he should play. It doesn’t mean that he is going to be all season like this. It’s not going to happen. But it’s good to have him also as an option.”

He added: “The last few years have not been what the club deserves or what the history of this club says,. This year, luckily, it has gone quite well, (we are) also in the Champions League. In the Conference League we managed to win it and now we are in this final, and we are in the Champions League. We are very proud to help the club to get back to where it deserves to be.

“We are very happy, we are very proud to play the final on Sunday. The reason why is because this is the Club World Cup, the best clubs in the world are here. For us to be there on Sunday is something that we are very proud of, so we are very happy.”
