Kepa Arrizabalaga- 6

Pulled a smart save from a Gomez strike late in added time after almost having nothing to do broadly in the first 45 minutes. Stayed alert all game and will be delighted with the clean sheet.

Wesley Fofana- 6

Always quick on his feet with an incredible concentration to go with it. Looks like one of the players enjoying their game in blue.

Marc Cucurella- 6.5

Cucurella has endured a difficult start to life at Chelsea but he was incredibly aggressive tonight. He stepped into midfield to win a few tackles. Really good game.

Kalidou Koulibaly- 6

Cleared a ball off the line with Kepa way off his line. He was pretty good with picking up loose balls and mopping up.

Reece James- 6

Thought he’d scored the opener with a brilliant volley in the first half but it was called for offside. Strong game without necessarily being spectacular.

Ben Chilwell- 7

Incredible performance from the England full-back. Offered an attacking outlet when Chelsea had the ball and was quick to tuck in and defend when Liverpool attempted to force their way through. Brilliant game.

Mateo Kovacic- 5

Horrible miss after being set up by a stretching Kante early in the second half. Didn’t do much to influence the game after.

N’Golo Kante -7

There really is no one like N’Golo Kante, started his first game of the year and just never stopped running. Ridiculous engine to just keep bouncing all-over the pitch, he has unmatched anticipatory skills to always intercept danger at the right time.

Enzo Fernandez - 6

Consistent at a time when most of his team-mates are misfiring.

Kai Havertz- 5

Rusty start to the game, missed two great chances to put Chelsea ahead. Then fluffed his finish when put through by Kante and ended up handling it and having the goal rightly ruled out for hand ball.

Joao Felix -6.5

Started the game on fire by running half the pitch and creating a chance, in honesty, he should have scored before Havertz made a mess of the rebound. Always looked very well when taking on defenders and his first touch is really good, if only he could properly finish.

Conor Gallagher-5

Came into the game to replace N’Golo Kante and tucked in well in the middle.

Mykhailo Mudryk- N/A

Not much time and influence when he came on.

Raheem Sterling- N/A
