Chelsea have perfect swap deal with Premier League rivals that would land them new attacker

Chelsea may have an easy swap deal staring them in the face.

Chelsea and Manchester United should be considering a swap deal as each of the clubs consider shopping at the other. This summer’s Premier League summer transfer window looks to be one of the most interesting for some time.

At the top of the table, you have Arsenal and Liverpool spending big, while Manchester City are also likely to invest significantly. Chelsea are bidding to get back in the Premier League title race after a spending recent years away from the race, and then you have the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest all spending big in an attempt to bridge the gap to the typical top clubs.

Elsewhere, Tottenham and Manchester United will spend significantly in a bid to get back to the European spots, and in the case of the latter, a Chelsea player is said to be of interest. According to recent reports, United have submitted an enquiry over out-of-favour Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku, who looks set for pastures new this summer.

Nkunku has featured pretty regularly under Enzo Maresca - albeit often as a substitute - but it’s clear the Chelsea boss is not convinced, and it has been claimed the the Blues are willing to sell the player they signed for £60million for just £43.3million this summer.

United have already signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, but they are said to want another attacker. Part of that is because they are preparing to sell Alejandro Garnacho, who has been left behind from the club’s pre-season tour so that he can pursue a departure.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Garnacho, both this summer and in the winter window, and Fabrizio Romano believes he could be a target for the Blues. “First step, go for Xavi Simons, negotiations advanced with Leipzig, and then second step, consider Garnacho as an opportunity for the final weeks of the window,” he told his YouTube channel. “So that’s the plan for Chelsea.”

According to The Telegraph, Garnacho has an asking price of £40million this summer, and there have been reports elsewhere that have claimed the winger is very willing to make the move.

There is a clear opportunity for a swap deal in the offing for Chelsea and United, who could swap Nkunku and Garnacho and agree to not pay each other a cent more. Swap deals do tend to be very rare in football despite rumours often claiming they will happen, but it’s also pretty rare that two clubs are interested in a player from the other club of a very similar value, or at least asking price.

That makes this a pretty obvious swap deal consideration, and as far as Chelsea are concerned, it would tick two boxes. On one hand they would be getting rid of Nkunku and allowing the Frenchman to get the regular football he desires elsewhere, and on the other they would be signing a winger, which is a requirement for Maresca after the sale of Noni Madueke.

Chelsea have signed Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund this summer, but the departure of Madueke has left the Blues needing another wideman.
