Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the latest name to be linked with Chelsea. Football Insider claim the Blues are ‘admirers’ of the Bees man after his impressive work at the Gtech Community Stadium. He guided the London club to promotion from the Championship and they are now pushing for Europe in just their second year in the top flight.

Return of the ‘Special One’?

Jose Mourinho has worked wonders at Roma over recent times and has managed at Stamford Bridge twice before in the past, as well as other spells at Manchester United and Spurs. Former Italy international Antonio Cassano believes he is keen to return to England and has said, as per Sport Witness (via Evening Standard):

“If (Simeone) Inzaghi were to be fired (at Inter Milan), I would rule out the return of Jose Mourinho. If an offer from the Premier League were to arrive, the Special One would choose England. The fans fell in love with his attitude (in Italy), but he intends to leave, and for me, he can only go back to Chelsea.”

Potter could be given time

Chelsea reportedly intend to stand by Potter despite problems on the pitch. The Guardian report the club are ‘determined’ to stick by their man ahead of their upcoming games against Leeds United in the league and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Bringing in the former Swansea City and Brighton and Hove Albion man was always seen as a long-term appointment by Todd Boehly but he needs results fast. He has won just 34.6% of games so far.
