One of Chelsea’s important youngsters is attracting interest from clubs in Europe and he could leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei continues to make his point with the Italy Under-21 side, and he was on the scoresheet again as they were held to a 2-2 draw by France. Every time he's on the field, he aims to send a message, and there is a feeling that he may need to move elsewhere to get the minutes required to become an absolute future star.

The 21-year-old came through the Inter youth academy and was sold to Chelsea for €14.86m, plus up to €5m in bonuses, in 2022. This season, he’s yet to play in the Premier League, although he’s had minutes in the Conference League and League Cup.

Reports in Italy suggest he could be tempted with a move back to Italy in the January transfer window, with Alessandro Nesta’s Monza seeking players to boost their chances of staying in Serie A after a rough start to the campaign. Before returning to Chelsea permanently last season, he had loan spells at Reading, where he excelled significantly, and then Leicester, where he played under Enzo Maresca before being recalled.

Chelsea’s midfield is well-stocked with world-class players and high-level investments, including the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moisés Caicedo, and Romeo Lavia, which has made minutes incredibly tough to come by.

Last summer, there was interest in the 21-year-old, but both the player and the club decided it was best for him to stay and see how he integrated under the new manager. However, it has now become clear that he will play second fiddle, leading to rumours of a potential exit in the winter transfer window. The Blues will return to action in the Premier League this weekend when they take on Leicester in the lunchtime kick-off at 12.30pm.
