Chelsea considering Liverpool transfer steal as Bayern Munich 'track' loanee
All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea ss they prepare for FA Cup action.
Chelsea are now putting the final touches on their preparations for Saturday night’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Brighton. The Blues took care of business in the Premier League on Monday night, returning to the top four, and they can now concentrate on cup football.
That’s especially the case thanks to the closure of the winter transfer window, with any and all speculation surrounding players now dying down a little for a few months. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.
Santos eyed
Bayern Munich are said to be interested in a deal to sign Chelsea youngster Andrey Santos, who is currently on loan with sister club Strasborg, Ben Jacobs has claimed vis GiveMeSport that Bayern like the look of the Brazilian and are tracking his performances.
Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior has said of Santos: "He constantly shows professionalism every day in his work, he constantly wants to improve and constantly trains at 100%. There were other players that had a worthy cause to be captain, but I felt that Andrey was the right choice. I felt that he didn’t do the armband any disservice at all.”
Luis Diaz links
Chelsea are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Liverpool superstar Luis Diaz. According to Antena 2, the Blues will consider trying to take advantage of Diaz’s contract situation at Anfield.
The Colombian has two years remaining on his current contract at Liverpool, and it’s unclear whether he will renew it, or indeed whether the Merseyside club will renew his deal, given how much money they have have to commit to keep Mo Salah, Vigil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea make a move, and indeed how much a deal would cost.
Cucu blow
Chelsea have been dealt a significant injury blow, with Marc Cucurella ruled out for weeks. Blues boss Enzo Maresca has said: “Marc is, unfortunately, a bad injury. Nico is better, and he could be (fit for the game). But it could also be a risk (to play him), so we will see. But it does not look like a long injury.
“Marc could be (a long injury). We are still waiting to know the extent, but it does not look like a short injury. It looks long. Exactly how long, we don’t know yet. Probably weeks.”
